Phase One: Workshop at your site

Creating the talk

Before we ever open our mouths, we need to develop a message worth saying. Before we say a word, we need to be confident that the words to be spoken will be powerful and well-received. This part of the workshop presents the FIVE key pieces of building a talk: Audience–designing the perfect message for them; Content–including the exact amount of content required to connect with and impress the listeners; Organization–winning ways to achieve maximum impact; Looks–dressing for success; and Visual Aids–avoiding common mistakes and producing powerful enhancements to the talk.

Performing the talk

It doesn’t matter how well the talk is created if it isn’t spoken well. As we speak, we need to impress. As we talk, we need to engage and own the listeners. This part of the workshop presents the SIX key pieces of delivering a talk. Poise: how to avoid distracting mannerisms and how to appear calm, confident, and competent; Voice: how to make sure every word is heard; Life: how to add feeling, emotion, passion to your words; Eye Contact: how to connect with every listener; Gestures: how to use hand, face, and body gestures to add emphasis to your words; Speed: how to adjust pace for powerful impact.

Phase Two: After the workshop

DIGITAL FOLLOW-UP. The in-person workshop introduces the framework that needs to be used. Whether training, selling, managing, speaking at a wedding, handing a child car keys for the first time, or anything else, we create the talk and then we perform the talk. But understanding the framework doesn’t make one a great speaker. Practice implementing the framework is crucial. We follow-up with attendees using digital tools to share ideas, offer constructive criticism, and encourage growth.
